It’s been a minute since I’ve shared a new recipe. I trust you’ve been taking advantage of the archives here, which are filled with about 17 years of recipes between what I transferred from my old site, and all the new ones I’ve created since starting this Substack almost 6 years ago.
Victoria Granoff, wrote recently, “The most underrated and overlooked stage in the creative process is incubation, where we allow ourselves to be still and inspired”. I’ve been a bit quiet here, and felt a little guilty about it, but Granoff’s words sum up exactly what my absence has been about. Oftentimes my internal narrator starts writing a story long before I’ve a chance to sit down at my laptop.
Writing is a tricky business, as is any creative endeavor. One can sit down with a goal of expressing one idea, and go off in a completely different direction. That’s the part I’m trying to connect back to in the pockets of time available when I’m not working my full-time job. This past week was the first time I felt like stepping outside of my mind, and committing words in a more permanent way. It was worth the wait, for me at least.
I’ve been wanting to share my recipe for bar pizza for a while now but have always just made it from memory. The recipe for the dough is a little different than the ones I’ve shared here (you can find them by searching the archives for “pizza”). It’s a minor variation from the one in my cookbook, Homemade with Love.
