Does anyone else feel like mid-August snuck up out of nowhere? Matthew and I prioritized some much needed time together this weekend. There was no plan except heading down to the city and seeing what feelings and moods the day inspired. Well, there was one tiny plan to start, and that was to satisfy a Doughnut Plant craving. We plotted some ideas over a Brooklyn blackout doughnut (him) and peach doughnut seed (me) but for the most part, the day was about just letting our feet guide us.
Making time for us meant I had to juggle around some other things, so the lawn is not getting mowed and the weeds have been spared a yanking until next weekend. Laundry may get done tonight, or maybe it’ll be a Monday morning task. The one thing I do regret is not getting to share the recipe for these zucchini, cheddar & chive tarts sooner, so let’s just file this under “better late than never”...or maybe better “ate” than never once you give them a bake?
I hope this week is a gentle one for us all. Remember to be kind. –xo, j.
