My new favorite workout app
+ granola nirvana, the perfect no-stir chunky recipe
It’s been a long time since I’ve shared a macro tracking and fitness update. I never fully adjusted to the time change and the darkness this past winter. All my motivation was depleted, leaving me stuck in a cycle of wishing I could find the mental energy to get back on track while also berating myself for being a lazy sod. As you might imagine, it wasn’t productive mentally, emotionally or physically. I’d created a barricade of my own design that felt impossible to overcome.
I could feel some of the weight I lost a year ago creeping back onto my body as winter came to a close. It was easy enough to ignore it while sweater season was still in effect. As the weather grew warmer, and layers needed lightening, I was so upset with how I let myself down as I was forced to see how easily the work I’d accomplished had started unraveling. Not completely, of course, but enough that it was noticeable, at least to me. The jeans that felt loose in September were a little more snug come May. The definition I’d worked so hard to achieve in my arms was no longer as sculpted either.
I decided to be as gentle and kind with myself as I would with a friend who was feeling out of sorts in their own body. I knew something would eventually click and snap me back into doing the work required to feel good in my body. The malaise cracked about five weeks ago.
