It's hard to believe today starts month four since our reality changed drastically, at least here in NY. If there's one good thing that's come of this situation, for me it would be having more time at home. Pre-pandemic I woke at 4am and left my house at 5am three days a week to catch Amtrak into the city for work. I'm not sure when my commute will start up again—that future feels so far away.
Now my mornings have a different routine before starting the work day. I still wake early, though not before the birds anymore. I hand grind some espresso beans and brew some in my mocha pot, feed the dog and cat, let the dog out for a stroll in the yard, and poke my head around the garden to see what the critters have eaten and what they've deemed worthy of leaving for me. Next year I've promised myself to do some vigorous animal proofing.
I've got some really lovely recipes lined up to share, like those doughnuts you see above. I know, it's such a tease to see them and not get a recipe for them. If you want to get a jump on making them, this recipe is what inspired me to make them twice in one week—they're really that easy!
There's a Chocolate Tahini Banana Bread waiting in the wings, too, as well as Zucchini Crumb Muffins. Hoping to set aside some time to write all these wonderful recipes up and share in the coming weeks.
